Q Document
Q Document
The Q document or Q comes from the German word Quelle or sources. Many scholars believe that “Q” was a real document, although no such document was ever found. They believe it is the textural source used for writing material used in Matthew and Luke that is not found in Mark. The Gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke are known as the Synoptic Gospels because they share common testimonies. This hypothetical Q Document contains a collection of Jesus’ sayings used by the Jesus Seminar to reach their radical conclusions. Since Q allegedly contains sayings, not works or miracles of Jesus, it is used as a basis for denying the resurrection and the deity of Christ.
