Earth

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Some cultures envisioned the earth on the shoulders of a giant (Atlas), sitting on a big turtle or a big elephant (1500 B.C.). However, God revealed a different picture to Job. Science caught up with the bible in 1650 to verify this reality.

Job 26:7

He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.

Proverbs  8:27

When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep,

Isaiah 40:22

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

The Hebrew word used for circle is chuwg, which is also translated circuit or compass depending on the context. It indicates something spherical, rounded or arched. This was written 300 years before Aristotle suggested that the earth might be a sphere. It was 2,000 years later, when scientists believed the earth was flat. Scriptures inspired Columbus to sail around the world.
